Insight: Inspiration from a disparate range of sources including laminate furniture, skateboards and suspension bridges combined with a deep love and knowledge of bicycle design enabled the concept to be generated.
Insight: For design to be truly innovative it’s not acceptable for it to merely look different. It must offer functional advantages.
Challenge: Create a novel design in an extremely well developed and established area.
Solution: Combining the excellent strength to weight ratio of cables in tension with the shock absorbing qualities of laminate beams enabled a solution demonstrated with a working prototype. AUDI sponsored further development of the design.
